THE BEGINNING

In 2002, Automak was founded with the vision to transform the automotive industry in Kuwait and the region at large.  The name “Automak” refers to automobiles, whereas “mak” are the initials of co-founder Mohammed Abdul-Mohsen Al Kharafi.

Despite intense competition in the automotive leasing and rental sector, Automak has positioned itself as one of the most prominent companies in the Kuwait vehicle rental sector in a span of 15 years, commanding a market share of approximately twenty percent.

THE PRESENT

Automak Automotive has a workforce of nearly 3,250 including 2,500 drivers at its headquarters in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, maintenance centres situated in various locations in Kuwait, and showrooms. 

Automak owns and operates a modern and diversified transport fleet, the largest in Kuwait by all standards, totalling approximately 10,000 vehicles of all types, models and luxury levels. The company operates in the market through corporate or individual (long- and short-term) rental and lease contracts and is executing on several contracts with government institutions including national oil companies and ministries.  This is supported by a comprehensive range of after-sale services offered to customers by a team of experienced professionals, via an extensive network of showrooms and maintenance centers that meet the highest standards of international companies in terms of quality, equipment and services. 

Automak has built a strong reputation for itself and has become synonymous with customer satisfaction and reliability.

THE FUTURE

Automak envisions a planned and steady expansion as part of its strategy to provide comprehensive services across all sectors of the automotive industry in the Middle East and North Africa region. It is poised to make a stronger impression in this sector both inside and outside Kuwait, keeping abreast of the latest global technological developments in the field. Automak initially embarked on short and long-term leases of vehicles. In 2013, the company expanded its services to include a driver with its vehicles.

In 2015, the company began providing cars and motorcycles for home delivery services to work with many major companies, such as McDonald's group of companies in Kuwait and others. The year 2017 also saw the expansion of Automak services to include the provision of school transport buses and a limousine service.

The company intends to implement a similar strategy for expansion in Egypt, with the introduction of home delivery and limousine services, in addition to providing cars for transport smartphone applications. Throughout its expansion, Automak remains consistent in maintaining comprehensive and progressive services in line with the worldwide development of transport solutions.
